HARTFORD — Sixty-three words.

When Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is sworn-in to a second term Wednesday afternoon at the state armory in Hartford, his longtime Stamford confidante Andrew McDonald will do the honors of administering the oath of office.

“I think I pretty much know it by heart,” McDonald told Hearst Connecticut Media Wednesday morning.

Malloy asked McDonald if he would play the central role in the inaugural ceremony back in December, and the state Supreme Court justice gladly accepted the duties.

McDonald and Malloy go way back, with McDonald running Malloy’s Stamford mayoral campaign and serving as the city’s chief legal counsel.

McDonald was later elected to the state Senate and then was tapped to be Malloy’s chief legal counsel during his first term as governor.
