Al Sharpton explains reason for Bridgeport cancellation in video

BRIDGEPORT – The day after Reverend Al Sharpton cancelled a scheduled appearance to a East End church after controversy surrounding whether his visit was an endorsement, a video played at the church has been released.

The campaign for Kenneth Moales, a candidate for state Senate in the 23rd District special election, posted a video played at Moales church to Youtube Thursday.

“In the midst of all the hoopla around an election, some people are more concerned about local politics than the education of our children,” said Sharpton in a video Wednesday night.

The video was played at the start of a church service announcing that Sharpton would be a no show to the event billed as a “Voter Registration Service”

Kirk Weslesy, campaign manager for Moales, said Sharpton’s visit has been rescheduled to two weeks from Thursday, a day after the special election, according to Only in Bridgeport.
