State GOP says House leader is a credit to her gender?

themisWouldn’t a People’s Choice award or something be more gender neutral in the 21st Century?

This from the Republican State Central Committee:

“Connecticut Republican Party Chairman Jerry Labriola Jr. announced today that House Republican Leader Themis Klarides will receive the Women’s Leadership Award at the 37th Annual Prescott Bush Awards Dinner. ‘Themis Klarides is a true leader in the Republican Party,’ said Labriola. ‘Themis understands the challenges facing Connecticut families and businesses, and has been a champion of pro-growth economic policies to improve the state’s fiscal health. I have enjoyed working Leader Klarides and her great team to help expand the size of her Republican caucus to 64 members, which is a 20-year high.’

Themis Klarides was elected to her ninth term in the Connecticut House of Representatives in 2014, representing Woodbridge, Orange, and Derby. She is the first women to serve as leader of the House Republican Caucus.

A native of Seymour, her commitment to public service includes involvement in the Walter Camp Football Foundation, the Board of Directors of the Greater Valley Boys and Girls Club, the Executive Board of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), and the Board of Directors of Griffin Health Services.

A graduate of Trinity College and Quinnipiac University School of Law, Representative Klarides is Of Counsel to Cohen and Wolf of Bridgeport.

The 37th Annual Prescott Bush Awards Dinner will take place on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the Crowne Plaza Stamford, 2701 Summer St, Stamford with keynote speaker US Senator Marco Rubio.”
