Malloy endorses Hillary for president

HARTFORD – Gov. Dannel P. Malloy on Sunday endorsed Hillary Clinton for president, two days after Clinton raised a quick $200,000 for her campaign in Greenwich.

“This is a critical election for the future of our country,” Malloy said in a statement. “I believe that Hillary Clinton has the right set of skills and experience to lead our country forward.”

The announcement was made during a municipal election kick-off at the Democratic State Central Committee’s Hartford headquarters.

State Democrats applauded Malloy’s endorsement.

“Like Gov. Malloy, Hillary Clinton will fight for the values we believe in as Democrats,” the party said in an email statement. “She has been a champion of everyday Americans and their families. We’re thrilled to see Democrats like Gov. Malloy stand up for the future of our party, and our country. And we want you to join him,” the party said.

Malloy added “Throughout her career, Hillary has been a champion of everyday Americans and their families. I am confident that she is the best candidate to build on our economic recovery and strengthen the middle class.”
