Greenwich blamed for highway crash

|

Jury selection began this morning for the civil trial of a New York man who is suing the town of Greenwich for injuries he suffered when he crashed into a fire truck on the Connecticut Turnpike.

William Kumah, of Amityville, N.Y., is a paraplegic as a result of the 2006 crash.

According to the lawsuit filed in Bridgeport Superior Court, shortly before 2 a.m. Kumah was driving southbound on I-95 near Exit 4 when he crashed into the fire truck that was parked diagonally across the highway for a previous tractor-trailer crash. The lawsuit claims the driver of the fire truck failed to properly position it so that its warning lights were visible to oncoming motorists.
