Greenwich Police are investigating an attempted break-in at a private residence in Central Greenwich early Thursday morning.
According to police, officers were dispatched to the East Elm Street home at approximately 3:30 a.m. following a burglar alarm thereat. Upon their arrival, police found the residence unoccupied.
“Officers found that the suspects had made several attempts to enter the home,” said Lt. Kraig Gray.
An unknown number of burglars allegedly attempted to bypass the locked front door before retreating to the basement and breaking a window. The shattered glass triggered the alarm, police believe, likely scaring off the suspects. Police said there was no indication the burglars made it inside the home, and nothing was taken.
The homeowners were alerted to the attempted break-in and returned to the residence during the investigation.
