Why not start the new year off with a selfless act, like supporting the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich? The club will host its Swim-A-Thon from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich Pool.

The Swim A Thon helps support all of the Aquatics Programs, from staff to equipment, and allows the Club to provide free programs for members. With a yearly membership of $25, members can join the swim team and participate in special clinics like swim lessons, snorkeling, water polo, water ballet, kayaking, underwater hockey, even life-guarding lessons. Club swimmers are asking for pledges from the community to help reach this year’s Swim A Thon goal of $20,000 by the end of May 2014.

Teams of up to eight people will compete in a water obstacle course which includes raft races, games with beach balls and hula hoops, and many surprise challenges to earn points for the grand prize. Prizes will be given to swimmers who raise more than $500. Donors who make donations of $50 or more will receive special gift.
