Greenwich warrant arrest causes struggle with police

|

The arrest of a local man briefly turned violent Tuesday after an attempt to serve him with a warrant kicked off a struggle, police reported. Kasey Hernandez, 21, of 47 Rodwell Avenue, is facing charges for interfering with an officer on top of those related to his failure to appear in court for an arrest on drug charges last year.

According to police, officers obtained a warrant for Hernandez’s arrest on Jan. 2, eventually tracking him down to his mother’s residence Tuesday morning. When told he was under arrest, Hernandez refused to be placed in handcuffs, instigating a brief struggle with police. He was eventually brought under control and placed in police custody, wher he remained after he could not post the $359 court set bond.

He is scheduled to appear in superior Court in Stamford on Jan. 15.

Hernandez had failed to appear at a court date stemming from a March 2013 arrest for marijuana possession and operating a vehicle without a license.
