Greenwich teen arrested for assault, slurs

|

A Greenwich teen has been arrested for assault and threatening after a fight near Western Middle School over homophobic comments.

According to police reports, the unnamed  suspect, a 14-year-old male, began verbally arguing with another male juvenile shortly after 4:30 p.m., making what police described as “bias comments” regarding the victim’s suggested sexual orientation. He then attacked the victim, punching him in the back, shoulder and chest.

The victim was not visibly injured and refused medical attention, but did complain of lower back pain.

The suspect was subsequently arrested and is now facing charges of third-degree assault, threatening, disorderly conduct, and intimidation based on bias and bigotry. He was eventually released into the custody of his mother and will appear in Superior Court on Juvenile Matters in Stamford on Jan. 21.
