Greenwich man arrested after gas station blow-up

DrunkGaryA Greenwich man is facing drug and breach of peace charges after an argument at a local gas station spiraled out of hand, resulting in his arrest. Gary Mazurak, 30, of 265 Pemberwick Road, was released on $1,000 bail Wednesday and appeared in Superior Court in Stamford Thursday morning.

According to police reports, officers were first dispatched to the Sunoco gas station on Riversville Road on reports of  an altercation between a man and a woman in a car. There, investigators learned an intoxicated Mazurak had been arguing with his girlfriend when she tried to drive the car away. The suspect pulled the emergency break, causing the vehicle to lurch to a stop , and snapped the car’s key while still in the ignition.

The victim related that Mazurak began to shout angrily at her and then the drivers of the car behind them.

During the investigation, officers  noted the smell of alcohol on the suspect’s person and noticed him ingest a white tablet. When pressed, he said the pill had been prescribed, but could not provide a prescription or a prescription bottle.

Mazurak was charged with breach of peace and failure to keep a prescription drug in its original container.
