Steel work begins at MISA site

|

Steel work began Tuesday for the auditorium under construction at Greenwich High School.

That component of the MISA project was originally set to begin in November, but was slowed by water-leakage issues with the cofferdam for the auditorium’s orchestra pit.

With the cofferdam now working, the steel work has started. The steel construction is expected to take 8-10 weeks.

“The steel is going to go from south to north and at some point we’re going to have to see whether we stop the steel temporarily because the orchestra pit’s not along far enough,” said Joe Ross, chairman of the project’s building committee.

The auditorium was originally scheduled for a September finish, but building committee members are now aiming for a January 2015 completion.
