Greenwich Police were dispatched to Greenwich High shortly after 11:00 a.m. on reports of a student under the influence of narcotics, possibly to the point of an overdose. While treating Merida,  police were given a number of items found in his backpack by school staff, including a bag of a leafy green substance, a pipe smelling of burnt marijuana, a vaporizer and a unmarked bottle of 13 Ativan pills.

Merida charged with possession of narcotics, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to keep narcotic drugs in their original container.

He was able to post his $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford on March 5.
