Wishlist, a clothing store with three locations in Fairfield County, is teaming up with Operation Prom Connecticut to collect gently used prom dresses to be donated to local teens in need of a dress for the big dance.
Operation Prom, which just expanded into Connecticut last month, accepts donations to be given to young women in good academic standing with economic hurdles keeping them from their teenage dream. But tulle doesn’t grow on trees, so Operation Prom is teaming up with the local, edgy clothing boutique to help collect dresses. Here’s the info:
And in case you’re wondering, yes, they’ll collect tuxes also. According to Operation Prom’s founder, the majority of their donations come from moms cleaning out their daughter’s closets, though they also accept bridesmaid dresses and other formal gowns — tuxes too. In a recent story, we reported that “last year, in Westchester County, the organization provided stellar gowns for about 700 girls. And this season, Operation Prom is coming to Connecticut for the first time, having just opened up a space in Darien, which (founder Noel) D’Allacco said will help the program reach girls from as far away as Hartford.”
