Riverside resident, Sarah King is a senior at Greenwich High School (GHS) with a lifelong interest in music and a special passion for opera. She’s also a gifted mezzo-soprano singing with the GHS Chamber Singers, the Angel Choir, the St. Clement of Rome Choir (also as a soloist) and the All State Chorus.
Come September King is to enter the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music to pursue her Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance. So it comes handy that she has just been awarded the 2014 Natalie Rutherford Scholarship Award from the Greenwich Choral Society that comes with $1000.
King was the featured soloist at the Greenwich Choral Society’s annual meeting on May 6 where the Society celebrated its 90th year. The Society awards this scholarship every year to any senior attending school in Fairfield or Westchester County who intends to pursue further study in vocal or choral work. King is pointed toward a career in opera.
