North Street School students got a lesson Wednesday in disaster relief.

Gary Shaye, senior director of emergency response at the nonprofit Save the Children, visited the school on Wednesday to discuss Save the Children’s response to the typhoon that devastated the Philippines last November.

Shaye accepted a check for $350 raised by the North Street to benefit Save the Children’s work and also talked about how his organization will use the school’s donation to continue to restore homes, school and water systems.
