Stamford teen arrested in Cos Cob for car theft, weapon

WhiteCarA Stamford teenager is under arrest in Greenwich after he was caught behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle with an illegal BB gun inside. Matthew White, 19, is  facing charges for third-degree larceny charges and possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle.

White’s bond was set at $5,000, which he was unable to post, and remains in Greenwich Police custody.

According to police reports, White was travelling on the Post Road in Cos Cob when an officer scanned his vehicle’s registration. The results came up as a stolen car out of Norwalk.

White was stopped, and a police search turned up the firearm, leading to the arrest.

Greenwich Police did not provide White’s Stamford  street address.

White was arraigned at state Superior Court in Stamford on August 19.
