Firefighters battling fire on Round Hill Road

UPDATE: 6PM

Fire dispatch reports that the fire is under control. Police say there were no injuries, everybody made it out OK.

It is not known how many were residents were inside the home when the fire broke out.

Firefighters had to tank water up to the house using three tanker trucks and used a nearby dry hydrant to pump water from a nearby pond.

The stretch of Round Hill Road is closed from Cherry Valley to Old Mill Road.

The gas company and CL&P have also responded.

Firefighters are battling a working house fire in the backcountry high on Round Hill Road above the Merritt Saturday.

Many stations have responded, tanker trucks have been needed from Cos Cob and Glenville.

Stations have responded from as far away as Sound Beach. The Round Hill volunteer squad has the road closed off at Old Mill Road by the Round Hill Store. They are turning all cars away.
