Tax payer,

ConnCAN is a great source for education material and I did a post on HatCityBLOG a while back regarding their performance report for Danbury schools.

I highly recommend parents to bookmark the ConnCAN website.

Why spend $3,000 or more on a trip to Arizona is a good question. A better question may be what are we getting when we spend $10,295 per student in Danbury. Or what are we getting for Dr. Sal' salary? The following statistics are from WWW.CONNCAN.org

The Danbury school district is ranked 125 / 154 in Ct.
38% of DHS students are able to meet the minimum state set goals
43% of Rodgers Park " " " " " " " " "
48% of Roberts Ave " " " " " " " " " "
57% of Park Ave " " " " " " " " "

And, to make matters worse, these numbers on average have gotten worse over the past few years.

If you think these numbers are bad look at the districts ranked from 126 to 154. In some of our high schools less then 10% of the students meet the minimum state set goals. Does anyone think the state set high goals??

Thanks for the insight on this excessive road trip...at the cost of the taxpayers...I for one, would prefer the leader of the high school to know where I am talking about when I say, downtown, or - "over by Stew's" or "up around TK's"...someone who is at least familiar with the locale, and the geographic make up of its students...
