Tonight, Congressman Chris Murphy and Sam Caligiuri are set to face off in a debate here in Danbury.

The League of Women Voters debate will take place at the Portuguese Cultural Center at 7:30 PM and I will be on hand to provide live streaming video of the event.

Feel free to drop a comment about the debate. If you’re using Twitter, use the #ct5 hashtag and your comment will appear in the dialog box below.

    A few things folks.

    1. The ads you see on the site are from UStream. American Action Network just dumped 800,000 in this race, which includes online ads.

    2. This was a live video stream, I was not reporting on the event but rather providing the video as a service for those who couldn’t attend.

    3. Anyone could leave a comment…it just so happened that Caliguiri’s campaign gave their supporters a heads up about commenting on the debate (the two individuals who left pro-Sam comments just happened to be Caliguiri’s campaign manager and a member of RTC in Sherman who endorsed Sam at the convention.

    4. What the audience did was disgraceful but what was more disappointing was how the moderator allowed the circus to go on. At every LWV debate I attended (including the ones at that same location in 06, and 08) the audience are not allowed to express support for any candidate until the END of the debate. At the LWV I attended on Sunday, the moderator almost instructed the police to remove one person in the audience. I don’t know who was at fault yesterday, the LWV or the moderator but it’s unfortunate that the event turned into a freak show and I was very upset that Art Cumnmings didn’t bring a stop to the nonsense.

I cannot believe that the “action” ads were embedded into the live stream! How bias is that?

This is journalism? Seriously???? Looking through this live blog, I can’t tell the difference between Republican campaign talking heads and cheerleaders and which person is supposed to be doing the reporting from this event. Every entry favors the Caligulari position. The crowd only goes wild for Caligulari. People, do yourself a favor, stop reading this trash, go on the candidates websites and see what they have to say and then do some research on what the health care bill and stimulus bill actually do/did, and then make up your mind.

Can someone fix the audio. I find it muffled and it is difficult to hear what the candidates are saying. Thank you

I can see we will have a “balanced” debate by the fact that a secret money attack ad on Murphy was the first thing I saw when I logged onto the live coverage. A decently broadcast debate would not allow for such.
