I keep promising myself as soon as I feel better and can get some solid training under my feet I will give one of these obstacles races a try. The following race this Sunday is close by in Madison and sounds like fun. Good luck to all the competitors. Here’s the latest release from JB Sports:
Nearly 600 participants are expected to compete this Sunday in Trailblazer’s 2nd annual 5K Run the Gauntlet race. The race takes place at Hammonasset Beach State Beach Park in Madison. Participants will attempt to conquer 16-20 obstacles, including hay bale pyramid climbs, cargo nets, tire crossings, planks and an aqua run, all while running 3.1 miles along the Hammonasset Beach shore. Last year’s race had a crowd of just over 500 participants.
After the race participants can enjoy a post-race beach party with live music, free pizza from Old World Pizza Truck, free beer from Thimble Island Brewing Company and an awards ceremony.
The first 650 registered runners receive a technical running shirt.
New this year is the Trailblazer Run the Gauntlet Team Competition! Teams will be accepted in the following categories: Family Team, Corporate Team, Open Team and Crossfit Team. Awards will be given to the top 3 teams in each category.
