Police are having trouble reaching North Stamford, due to a large number of roads blocked by downed trees and wires. The police scanner has been buzzing with officers trying different routes to reach portions of the neighborhood for the last hour, including one officer who has made several attempts to make it through Scofieldtown Road.
At 8:30 p.m., Stamford police said they may need to call in mutual aid if there are any emergencies in North Stamford, since the area simply cannot be reached from the South.
But there are also obstructions from the northern edge of the neighborhood. According to police, the Den Road exit on the Merritt Parkway is completely impassable due to downed wires and trees that stretch the entire width of the street.
