Gov. Dannel P. Malloy began his morning briefing by paying tribute to the Easton firefighter who was killed when a tree fell on a fire truck on Judd Road Monday night.
The name of the firefighter has not been released.
“Our hearts go out to his family, his friends and fellow firefighters. Our first responders put their lives on the line and when one of them loses their life, we all feel the pain in Connecticut,” he said.
Malloy also said at the briefing that surging tides from Hurricane Sandy came withing inches of flooding critical components in two downtown Bridgeport substations late Monday.
But because they have been shut down, United Illuminating Co. plans to restore power to much of the city today.
