Looking for some good skiing and snowboarding this weekend, but don’t want to spend a fortune?
Well then, you might want to head up to Jiminy Peak in northwestern Massachusetts on SUNDAY, about two hours from southern Connecticut.
The deal: $39 tickets for an eight-hour ticket or $29 for skiing/riding from 3 to 10 p.m.
The catch: You must go to its website and print out an e-coupon and bring it to the ticket window. If you don’t bring it, you’ll have to pay full price – $58 for adults, $50 for teens. There will be no coupons available at the ski area.
IMPORTANT: You must print out the e-coupon at least 24 hours in advance. Wait until Sunday morning and you’re out of luck.

Jiminy is a fun mountain to visit. It’s got 45 trails, nine lifts and a 1,150-foot vertical. The longest trail, Left Bank is 2 miles, and it has three terrain parks with hits and rails. It’s generally an intermediate area, but has some steep pitches.
Jiminy is also the only ski area in the East that has a 1.5-mg wind turbine – named Zephyr – that supplies much of its energy needs.
It a nutshell, Jiminy has the feel of a big resort on a mid-sized mountain. With 97 percent snowmaking coverage and aggressive grooming, it’s a kind of an Okemo South. Well worth a visit without a long drive.
Tip: Your best bet in getting there is hooking up with Route 22 in New York State and taking Route 43 east for four miles. Do not take Route 7; it’s not only slower, but runs through larger towns like Great Barrington, Lenox and Pittsfield that will bog you down. Route 22 does pass through some towns, but generally it’s a 50 mph cruise.
Crowds shouldn’t be too bad Sunday, since many people should be heading home after Presidents’ Holiday Week .
