STAMFORD — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has thrown his support behind Republican mayoral candidate Michael Fedele.

The Fedele campaign announced the endorsement Tuesday afternoon.

“I’m pleased to endorse Michael Fedele for Mayor of Stamford because Mike is a leader who understands what makes cities like Stamford successful,” Christie said in a written statement. “He knows that keeping taxes low, building coalitions and working in collaboration with the community is the way to accomplish great things.

Christie’s endorsement follows the endorsement last week of his Democratic rival David Martin by Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy.

“I am proud to receive Governor Christie’s endorsement,” Fedele said in the statement. “He is one of the strongest leaders in America, and New Jersey residents are fortunate to have – and have benefited from — his leadership in countless ways and in good and bad times.”

The best candidate by far. I have taken the time to visit all candidates’ websites, watched the debate last week and watched videos. I encourage you all to watch and compare. Fedele has the right vision for Stamford, and my family’s vote.
