Woman hit by car on High Ridge Road

st1024staccident-690STAMFORD — A 19-year-old woman was rushed to Stamford Hospital after being hit by a car on  High Ridge Road around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday.

The woman was screaming when police arrived and police are describing her injuries as serious.

The woman, who has not been identified, was walking across the busy road near the intersection of Hartswood Road when she was struck by a dark-colored Saab that was turning off of Hartswood to go north on High Ridge. Police said it is undetermined if the woman was in the nearby crosswalk at the time of the accident.

High Ridge Road was closed in both directions for about 90 minutes after the accident while police questioned the driver and multiple witnesses.

Police said the male driver was very cooperative in the investigation and was allowed to leave without being cited.

Police said the woman lives nearby and her mother and sister were notified.

The police department’s Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Squad are investigating the incident to determine if any charges will be filed.
