st1106stfall-2001STAMFORD — A 42-year-old woman who initially survived an 11-story fall from a Stamford high-rise Tuesday evening, has succumbed to her injuries.

The woman’s name has not been released by police and an investigation continues into whether her death was accidental or was a suicide.

The incident was reported to police at 6:36 p.m. at the Fountain Terrace high-rise condominium complex at 91 Strawberry Hill Ave. near Stamford High School.

Fountain Terrace security guard Jelanee Allen said he heard the woman scream.

People tried to help the woman and covered her with clothing to keep her warm until the ambulance came, Allen said.

Allen said people were talking to the woman and she was responding after they spoke to her.
“When anybody said something to her she was mumbling,” Allen said.

“The way she screamed and the way it sounded, it did not sound like foul play. It sounded like an accident,” Allen said.
