Citizen Pavia

Brian Cashman’s civility talk at Ferguson Library Monday night included a couple of surprise guests, including Bobby Valentine, who declared “I’ve been a Yankees fan all my life” and shared an anecdote about his meeting as a teenager with a less-than-civil Mickey Mantle.
First, though, a familiar face stepped in front of the audience of about 300 and announced “My name is Mike Pavia, and I am a private citizen in the city of Stamford.”
The former mayor, who launched the civility series as part of his mission to make Stamford “the most civil city in America,” also confirmed that the speaker series will continue, with former New York Giant George Martin and Bridgeport Diocese Bishop Frank J. Caggiano among those on deck.
David Martin, who took over the city’s top office from Pavia on Sunday, did not attend Monday’s event.
