Former White House attorney to pay $28.6M in damages

st0612stfarren-01.jpgSTAMFORD — A Stamford jury has awarded the ex-wife of former White House Attorney John Michael Farren $28.6 million in damages caused when he nearly beat her to death in their New Canaan mansion in January 2010.

The three men and three women sitting on the jury came back with their verdict and award about 90 minutes after they were given the case by Judge Robert Genuario.

The verdict capped about a week of testimony by 20 witnesses, including Mary Margaret Farren, who broke down in sobs while on the witness stand during about 90 minutes of testimony on Friday.
