New York man arrested for exposing self to mother and daughter on train

A New York train rider was arrested in Stamford for exposing himself to a mother and daughter Saturday morning.

James Dennis 49, of Brooklyn, New York, was charged with breach of peace and public indecency.

At his arraignment Monday, Dennis was ordered held in lieu of a $7,500 bond and was assigned a public defender. He is scheduled to return to court on Feb. 3.

According to a police report of the incident, a 69-year-old woman and her daughter 41, boarded a Metro-North train at 125th Street station about 7:17 a.m. Saturday.

The younger woman told police that she saw Dennis openly masturbating while looking at her and smiling.

“My mother mentioned to me what was going on. I stood up and saw his penis outside his pants fully erect, he was openly stroking and constantly looking in my direction. I informed the conductor of the situation. After I told the conductor, the masturbation continued,” the younger woman said in her statement.

The mother told police that Dennis was masturbating constantly. When the conductor would walk by, Dennis would put his sweater over his penis, the police report said.

When he was arrested by MTA police, the officer wrote that Dennis “appears to be mentally disordered.”

Dennis has a criminal record stretching back to 1985 and since that time he been convicted of a variety of criminal charges such as assault, larceny, burglary, robbery, violation of probation, failure to appear at court and escape.
