A woman was struck by a hit-and-run driver in downtown Stamford late Monday afternoon.
The woman was crossing Washington Boulevard westbound at West Broad Street when she was struck by a white minivan that had was driving eastbound on West Broad before making a left hand turn on Washington Boulevard heading northbound, police said.
The woman was unable to report the accident until she reached the nearby Shell station a block away at 5:53 p.m. .
Police radioed to cars in the area looking for a white minivan with sliding passenger doors on both sides. A man wearing glasses was driving the car during the accident.
An ambulance was called because the woman said she was experiencing back pain and other ailments.
