Stamford high student arrested in sexual assault

A Stamford High School student has been arrested for the attempted sexual assault of a fellow female student, police said.

The juvenile, whose name was not released by police because of his age, was charged Thursday with attempted fourth-degree sexual assault and taken to the Juvenile Detention Center at Bridgeport.

Lt. Diedrich Hohn said on Dec. 13 a girl reported to school staff that she had been groped by the suspect immediately after it happened.

The girl said the two were on the fifth floor of the high school at 1 p.m. when the male student approached the female and asked her to perform oral sex on him.

When the girl refused the boy grabbed the girl and shoved his hand down her pants, Hohn said.

The girl broke free and reported the incident to staff, who then reported the assault to School Resource Officers Ken Boyd and James Stackpole.

Hohn said Boyd and Stackpole investigated the matter and obtained a signed arrest warrant for the suspect.

“The officers did a nice job by vigorously investigating the case and we hope the girl gets any counseling needed,” Hohn said.
