Stamford opens warming centers

STAMFORD — Last weekend’s balmy 50-degree temperatures are but a warm, distant memory today, with temperatures expected to reach a high of only 17 degrees and another possible snowstorm coming Sunday.

The city of Stamford has again opened warming centers in an effort to keep residents safe during the cold weather. The following locations will be available from Friday through Monday, per the Government Center’s website:

Chester Addison Community Center (Mon-Friday 9:00am-8:30pm; Saturday 10:00am- 9:00pm; Sunday 10:00am- 8:00pm): 245 Selleck St., Stamford, CT

Stamford’s Jewish Community Center (Mon-Thurs 5:30am-10pm; Friday 5:30am- 6pm; Saturday 7:30am-9pm; Sunday 7:30am -6pm):1035 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT

Stamford Government Center Lobby (8am to 9pm): 888 Washington Blvd., Stamford, CT

YMCA (Mon-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm): 909 Washington Blvd, Stamford, CT

Central Fire Headquarters (8am – 6pm): 629 Main Street, Stamford, CT

South End Fire Station (8am – 6pm): 215 Washington Blvd, Stamford, CT

West Side Fire Station (8am – 6pm): 80 Fairfield Avenue, Stamford, CT

East Side/Shippan Fire Station (8am – 6pm): 364 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT

Woodside Fire Station (8am – 6pm): 1600 Washington Blvd, Stamford, CT
