Police are investigating five bullets being fired on a West Side street corner earlier today.
Police say that the man who pulled the trigger was aiming his pistol at two to three men standing on the east side of Richmond Hill Avenue near Mission Street.
Lt. Diedrich Hohn said the shots rang out at about 11:30 a.m. Monday. Police have checked with local hospitals and no shooting injuries have been reported.
Hohn said investigators were able to recover five shell casings on the north side of Richmond Hill Avenue near Mission Street. Hohn said the man was firing in a easterly direction toward two to three men standing on the other side of the street.
The man struck a garbage can and a car with the bullets. Police were able to recover one slug at the scene, Hohn said.
Hohn said investigators did not find any evidence that would lead them to believe that anyone had been shot.
Although there is a good amount of foot traffic and people around that area in the late morning, only one person in the area called police to report the gunplay, said Hohn, who said that he would have expected more people to call police.
Hohn said it has not yet been determined why the gunman was firing his gun at the other men, who left the scene before police arrived.
