STAMFORD — Board of Finance Chairman John Louizos is on board the Acela train en route to Washington, D.C.
Louizos will meet today with U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy to discuss Stamford’s federal priorities. Tomorrow he is meeting with U.S. Representative Jim Himes.
“After being elected chairman of the Board of Finance, I stated that one of my priorities was to take the initiative to reach out to the members of our community and our leaders to better communicate our city’s progress and challenges,” Louizos said. ” Nothing beats a face-to-face visit, and I am pleased to have the opportunity to travel to Washington as part of an in-person outreach during our budget process.”
Louizos, who was born in Athens and moved to Stamford as a toddler, has been invited to a reception at the White House Friday in honor of Greek Independence Day. U.S. President Barack Obama will also attend the reception.
Louizos said he is traveling to Washington at his own expense.
