Board of Reps committee votes down two nominees

STAMFORD — The Board of Representatives Appointments Committee interviewed 17 candidates nominated by Mayor David Martin for board and commission appointments. Committee members voted against two: Director of Operations Ernie Orgera and WPCA Board of Directors member Don Huppert.

The committee spent more than an hour grilling Orgera on his tenure as head of the city’s operations department. The vote against his candidacy was 3 members in favor, four opposed.

Huppert was also voted down by a 3-4 vote.

The two nominees will now go before the full board Monday night. The Appointments Committee will provide a negative recommendation to the board, but the 40 members could still vote to approve their candidacies.

All the other nominees, except for Robert King who did not attend Thursday night, were approved. You can see the full agenda here.

We’ll have full coverage in this week’s Stamford Advocate.

Anabela – That idea needs to be put onto the floor of the meeting.
It sounds like there’s a Rep who had two ‘R’s'to consider – Recuse or Resign!

Wouldn’t you vote for him if your husband was a contractor who did work with the Operations Department. I sure would.

Who were the three morons who voted in support of Ernie Orgera?
