Norwalk teen shot in head on Stamford’s West Side

STAMFORD — A 19-year-old Norwalk man is in critical condition at Stamford Hospital after he was shot in the head at a West Side apartment complex late Friday night.

The victim was struck in the back of the head and sustained a fractured skull, but is expected to survive, according to a statement from Stamford police Lt. Diedrich Hohn.

At about 11:45 p.m. Friday, a man in dark clothing fired off six to seven rounds at a group of men hanging out near the corner of Myano Lane and Connecticut Avenue, Hohn said. The 19-year-old from Norwalk was the only one hit.

The victim underwent surgery Saturday morning at Stamford Hospital and the bullet was removed and turned over to investigators, Hohn said. The victim remains in intensive care at Stamford Hospital and is expected to survive, Hohn said.

Why does the story in the Hour say that it was a suspect is a black man in dark clothing while the Advocate version says only that it was a man in dark clothing? Why the omission of hat critical descriptive element in the report?
