Stamford Police are investigating the stabbing death of a Stamford Taxi company driver found dead Wednesday morning inside his car on Doolittle Road with multiple wounds, Stamford Police Chief Jon Fontneau said.

Stamford Police crime scene investigation van arrives at Doolittle Road Wednesday morning. The victim was found by police in his taxi in a wooded area just off the end of Doolittle Road, Fontneau said.

Fontneau declined to identify the victim who appears to be in his 40s pending notification of his next of kin.

“Right now we’re working at a feverish pace and brought search dogs in to comb the area,” Fontneau said.

Police responded shortly before 9 a.m. to find the victim dead in his taxi vehicle with multiple stab wounds.

“It appears there was a struggle and that this could be a potential robbery,” Fontneau said.

It is way to early to tell what happened here. It sure doesn’t look like a robbery. The injuries to the guy they arrested could mean the guy acted in self-defense. Whatever happened to “presumed innocent?”

Mr. Kamal worked hard to provide for his family and this scum took his life.

Here’s his mugshot from 2009 in Florida. Why is he even still here if he’s a citizen of Rep. of Georgia. http://florida.arrests.org/Arrests/Shota_Mekoshvili_2434593/

Statistically, I believe being a taxi driver is the most dangerous occupation in the world. What a shame. Here’s a guy just trying to earn a living and some lowlife kills him for a few dollars. When I was much younger I drove a NYC cab and believe me, I was scared whenever I picked up a new passenger, hoping there would be no trouble. Few people understand the stress a cab driver is always under. Please treat them with respect and tip generously. You wouldn’t want their job.
