Hi everyone,
As soon as Beth Profeta slid the CD into the tray and pressed play, she felt the “spirt bumps” as she calls them, ripple across her arms.
The connection, Profeta will tell you, was instant and unmistakable the first time she heard “Mary’s Song.”
It was the saddest kind of tribute, the hushed whispers of a broken heart wrapped in the eternal embrace of guitar chords.
“I didn’t know Jessie Mayer before she wrote it, but somehow, she knew me and my family,” Profeta said Thursday afternoon at a local coffee shop. “The words were perfect.”
Mayer, a Connecticut-based singer and songwriter, also seemed to know Mary Badaracco, Profeta’s mother and the victim of a sinister cold case that’s gone unsolved for way too long.
This week marks the 26th anniversary of Badaracco’s disappearance from her Sherman home, a story that never made sense from the time it was spun.
On Sunday, Mary Badaracco will be remembered by the CUE Center for Missing Persons at Hatters Park in Danbury. The vigil will start at 3:30 p.m. and copies of “Mary’s Song” will be sold for $5, with every penny going to support the CUE Center.
“After all the evil we’ve seen, it just goes to show you how beautiful people can be,” Profeta said. “We’re so grateful to all the angels out there trying to help us find my mother.”
Everything else — the lost birthday parties, the lost prom pictures, the lost hugs and kisses — are gone forever, lost to an unspeakable crime.
Badaracco, who was reported missing Aug. 20, 1984, loved mowing the grass in her bare feet and feeding the deer by hand in her lush backyard.
She loved a good beer and a good joke. But more than anything, Mary Badaracco loved her two girls, Beth and Sherrie.
“We meant everything to her. Family was everything to my mother,” Profeta said. “My mother never would have left us without saying a word.”

Only in the print edition of The News-Times.

“Marys Song” is a hearbreaking song about how Mary Badaracco went missing and her families darkest hours. The words bring you from 1984 in their grip of saddness but also in faith.
It is a plea for help from anyone who will listen or cares, as the song says.
People know what happened to Mary Badaracco ,
please come out and support the family this Sunday August 22 2010–at Hatters Park in Danbury at 3:30 pm and join in the Vigil/Rally and Prayer, so that Mary may be found and brought home finally to her family.
There is still a $50,000 Dollar Reward being offered.
People today need to stand up in their Faith and for what is RIGHT and help with information to undo this tragedy, please help put murderers behind bars, so they don’t do this to someone elses Mother or family member……..
and help bring this beautiful soul home to her family for a proper Burial!
Blessings

I also want to say a big thank you to Jessie Mayer, whom I asked if she could write Mary and her girls a song, and she outdid herself with a most beautiful and hearbreaking song, one of truth, love and the asking of people to open their hearts and bring Mary home with the knowledge they have. I am hoping and wishing that Marys Song gets out amongst people and they hear it , it is so special, as is Mary, her daughters and Jessie Mayer . Jessie has been kind beyond words, I cannot thank her enough , she not only wrote this amazing piece but then is donating all proceeds from the CD’s we are creating to the Cue Center for The Missing.
Jessie , Thank you, Beth Thank you and Sherrie Thank you, and Mary, Thank you to all of you for being a part of my life, you are all special Angels that God holds in his Heart.

To Angel 111~ hello….Without you there’d be no song <3 With ALL OF MY HEART and on behalf of Mary, THANK YOU for being in our lives<3 That goes out to every1 that continues to stand by Mary's girls ! I know that when 2 or more gather together in the presence of God's love and light…Miracles happen, we will conquer the darkness!
When people cower in fear and do not fight for what's right, they lose, evil wins in their lives, so lets pray harder than ever before for those that are cowering in this fear everyday! Lets pray for strength/ protection for the weak! Pray they are able to stand strong with us to bring Mary Badaracco home!
