Rock Band 1 & 2 for less than $80

I heard about this deal over on Consumerist.com. If you know a gamer who has a Playstation 3 or Xbox 360, but somehow didn’t get swept up in the Rock Band craze the first time around, you can now get Rock Band 1 & 2, as well a guitar and drums for less than $80. Shipping is free, but it says supplies are limited. Check it out.

Book price war at Wal-Mart, Target and Amazon

If you’re thinking about giving books as gifts during the holiday season, or if you just want to stock your own collection of bestsellers, this may be a great opportunity to shop. According to an article I read this morning from the AP, a price war is currently underway between Wal-Mart, Amazon and Target.

Each are slashing prices on popular books by 60% or even more. Titles marked down include Sarah Palin’s book, Going Rogue, Stephen King’s Under the Dome, and John Grisham’s Ford County: Stories — in hardcover for $9 or less. Read more and see what’s available on Amazon, Target, and Wal-mart’s sites.

Read books for free on your phone

iphone_largeThis week’s Barnes & Noble discount e-mail includes a free eReader for mobile devices, and up to six free books. Of course, the store requires you have an online account with them and sign in to it for the deal. The deal is also available on the store’s Web site.

But, with books like “Pride and Prejudice” and “Little Women” offered for free, it seems worth the cost of your personal demographic and tastes data.

The offer seems like a good deal for a decent way to kill time while waiting at the airport, train station, doctor’s office, etc.

Just remember, Barnes & Noble is hoping that you’ll flip at least $9.99 when the next big release comes out.

How to save 50% or more on theater tickets

My mom would appreciate this post, as she just went to see Jersey Boys in New York and can’t wait to go back. If you want to see a Broadway show, but don’t think you can afford it, check out this video from Smart Money that provides tips on how to save (there’s a short commercial first, then it loads).

The reporter in this video mentions some Web sites to check out, but I thought she flew through them kind of fast, so here’s some links to the ones she mentions below.
