Monday’s sports stars of the day

It was a successful Monday for our local teams, as almost everyone in action came away with a victory. Of course, with the success came plenty of stars. Here’s a look at them.

Hannah Staab, Greenwich Academy softball: Staab went 4 for 5 with two doubles, two triples and nine RBI to power the Gators to a 15-6 win over Convent of the Sacred Heart. Staab also did the job on the mound, striking out six in three innings.

Parker Procida, Greenwich Academy lacrosse: Procida recorded a game-high five goals with one assist in GA’s 10-8 win over Holy Child.

Stephen Pastore, Greenwich High School golf: Pastore earned medalist honors, shooting a 36 in the Cardinals’  153-171 victory against Trumbull.

Brooke Nethercott, Greenwich High School golf: Nethercott shot a 38 for the Cardinals, who outshot FCIAC foe New Canaan, 199-223.

Greenwich High School girls tennis team: The Cardinals improved to 10-0 on the season with a 7-0 win over Ridgefield. Led by No. 1 singles player Jenn Deluca, the Cardinals won every match in straight sets.

Claire D’Etiveaud, Ali Herrara, Abby Markowitz, Liz Markowitz, Amanda Michaud, May Hayashida, Greenwich High track and field: D’Etiveaud won the high jump and the 200-meter run, Herrara placed first in the discus and shot put, Abby Markowitz won the 800-meter run and Liz Markowitz had a first-place finish in the 400-meter run. Meanwhile, May Hayashida became the first Greenwich pole vaulter to qualify for the FCIAC championship meet in three years. She had a winning distance of 7’1 3/4 inches. Michaud won the 100-meter run.
