Dobbs leaves Brunswick for King

Greg Dobbs will start a new chapter in his successful coaching career this winter.
After 22 years at Brunswick School, Dobbs will serve as head coach of the King School varsity basketball team. Few teams displayed the excellence and consistency the Bruins exhibited since Dobbs took over the helm in 1989. Reaching the Fairchester Athletic Association Tournament finals in all but two seasons during Dobb’s 22-year tenure, Brunswick won 13 FAA regular season titles and 13 FAA tournament championships.
“Not only do we appreciate what he did in terms of wins and losses, he was a real gentleman and a fine representative of what Brunswick is all about,” Brunswick athletic director Jeff Harris said.
A Stamford resident, Dobbs coached a wealth of all-league players, as well as standout players who went on to play at the collegiate level. Brunswick’s new varsity basketball coach is Robert Taylor. Taylor, who has worked in Brunswick’s history department since 2004, coached the school’s junior varsity basketball squad last winter.
Brunswick’s FAA regular season championships under Dobbs – 1991-1995, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010. FAA tournament championships – 1991-1996, 2002, 2004-2008, 2010. New England Tournament Champions – 2000.
