The Brunswick School boys soccer team has registered another successful season while playing a schedule that’s featured some of the premier teams in New England.
The Bruins celebrated Senior Day Thursday with a thrilling 2-1 victory over visiting Hotchkiss School. The Bearcats entered the game ranked No. 1 in Western New England’s Class A division, but the Bruins had enough to overtake them Thursday.
Sophomore Harry Heffernan scored the game-winner, tallying off an assist from senior Luke Esposito in the 72nd minute.
Hotchkiss took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute, but the Bruins evened the score, getting a goal from senior co-captain Patrick Figgie in the 35th minute. Senior Curt Townshend made 12 saves in goal for the Bruins, who will visit Westminster in their regular season finale Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
Brunswick, which improved to 7-6-1, has done a fine job this season, knocking off formidable foes such as Deerfield Academy, Kent School, Trinity Pawling, Gunnery and Hopkins.

Brunswick soccer team wins on Senior Day
FCIAC girls swimming championship
New Canaan won the 2011 FCIAC girls swimming championship Saturday in Greenwich.
In the video above Maddie Rusch of New Canaan wins the 50-freestyle race with a time of 23.99.
Jenna Egan was second at 24.68 and Greenwich’s Madeline Dunn came in third at 24.99.
Wanted to post a video to show the excitement of the event but it fails to capture how loud it truly is in that pool during this meet.
Easily the loudest event I have covered and I have covered the cheerleading championships.
