Kids from 8 and under to 15 and over came together for the 11th annual Town Swimming Championships at the Greenwich High School pool Saturday.

With 390 swimmers, racing in 48 age group events over 3 days of competition at the Greenwich High School pool, the Greenwich Town Swim Championships have developed into the meet of the year for many Greenwich swimmers.
Now in its 11th year, and sponsored by the YWCA of Greenwich Dolphins Swim Team, the competition is friendly and fierce.
“I think, the meet is really developing into a high quality affair. There were only 5 meet records, which speaks to the legacy of the meet after a decade and we had 25 different swimmers from the six teams win events, “ commented Dolphins Head Coach and meet Director Nick Cavataro
Gretchen Walsh, 10, of the YWCA Dolphins picked up two gold medals, with two meet records, winning the 8-and-under 25-yard Free at 14.06 and the 25-Butterrfly at 15.88. Teammate Megan Lynch, 8, added a record taking gold in the 25-Breaststroke at 19.25. Lynch also took the 25-Back at 18.67.
Alexandra Walsh, 10, of the Dolphins was a triple winner, setting a new meet mark of 27.85 in the 50-Free, and also stroke gold in the 50-Back and 50-Butterfly with respective times of 33.57 and 31.47.
Action in the 11-12 girls group saw Sophie Jahan, 11, of the Marlins strike gold twice taking the 50-Free and 50-back at 25.90 and 30.75, respectively.
In the 15-and-over group Christi Frias, 15, of the Marlins was a double winner taking the 100-Buttererfly at 1:01.78 and the 100-Back at 1:01.87. Teammate Jill Boland, 14, doubled striking gold in the Open 400-Individual Medley at 4:55.49 and in the 13-14 groups 100-Butterfly at 1:05.31
Action in the 8-and-under boys group saw the Marlins Mark Chen and the Dolphins Alexander Hazlett, both grab a pair of gold medals. Chen took the 8-an-under 25-Free and Breast events at 14.91 and 21.25, respectively. Hazlett, took gold in the 25-Back at 19.10 and in the 25-Butterfly at 16.91.
The Dolphins Parker Scott, 10, was a triple winner in the 9-10 boys group striking the wall first in the 50-Free, Back and Butterfly with times of 28.57, 32.85 and a meet record of 31.58, respectively.
The 11-12 Boys group saw the Dolphins Aedan Lewis, 11, take double gold in the 50-Free and 50-Breast with times of 27.54 and 34.24, respectively.
The Dolphins Henry Cobbs, 15, posted a pair of wins, taking the 15-and-over 100-Free at 54.71 and the 100-Butterfly at 1:01.37.
In the inaugural Thursday night mixed Distance stroke races, Parker Scott (100-Bac); Sophia Moore (100-Breast); William Montesi (100-Fly); Graham Hazlett (200-Back); John Dustin (200-Breast) and Jill Boland (200-Fly) were winners.
