Finishing the season 11-9 and just missing the FCIAC playoffs, the Greenwich boys basketball team is set to hit the road for the Class LL playoffs when they travel 90 miles northeast to take on Manchester Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Manchester (15-5) is the No. 10 seed and plays in the North division of the largest conference in the state, the Central Connecticut Conference.
Manchester is playing in the finals of the CCC tournament against Windsor Thursday.
The Cardinals were last on the court in Danbury last week, where they fell to the Hatters in overtime.
Danbury clinched the final playoff spot with the win and the Cardinals were sent home for a week to lick their wounds and prepare for the Class LL tournament.
The Cardinals enter the game with a decisive size advantage as Manchester does not have a player over 6-foot-4 and Greenwich boasts the two headed monster of Greg Donlic and Sem Kroon on the blocks.
The Cardinals played one of their best games of the season against Danbury and if they bring that commitment to Manchester they are more than capable of pulling the first round upset.
If they escape Manchester they would face the winner of No. 7 Crosby and No. 26 Trumbull.
