Greenwich pitcher Dylan Callahan was back in form after a rough outing last time out against Ludlowe, striking out 8 Wilton Warriors while pitching a complete game.
* The game was a rematch of the final game of last year’s regular season and the pitching matchup was the same with Callahan facing Paul Merolla.
Merolla was not terrible but was not as sharp as he has been, allowing four runs.
* The Cardinals were still without catcher Ricky Okazaki, who is out with a concussion. Max Barefoot, (one of my favorite names in the league) wore the tools of ignorance for the Cardinals today and played well.
* Greenwich faces McMahon Wednesday in a highly anticipated early season showdown.
The Senators had to rely on their offense to power them to a 9-6 win over New Canaan Monday.
Ricardo Torres pitched for the Senators, so, staff ace and one of the top players in the state, Bryan Daniello should be on the hill Wednesday against the Cardinals, facing the Cardinals other senior starter, Casey Gaynor.
* A few other thoughts: Posted a FCIAC wrap Saturday but it was brought to my attention that St. Joseph is not actually playing in the Bridgeport Classic but rather just playing in a triple header at Harbor Yard the same day as the Classsic.
The Classic is between four Bridgeport Schools and will not be played at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
Also got an email touting Ridgefield as the best field in the FCIAC. If you think your team’s field is tops, let us know and we will include it in our next poll at the beginning of next week.
