Brunswick baseball team well represented on All-FAA team

The Brunswick School baseball team is certainly well represented on the All-FAA Team.

Senior shortstop/pitcher Jack Voigt, senior pitcher Brian Schutzman, senior catcher Brandon Muto and junior center fielder Sam Fraser each earned All-FAA honors. Schutzman led the Bruins’ pitchers in victories, while recording an impressive 1.58 ERA. The two-time Pitcher of the Year registered 47 strikeouts in 48 1/3 innings.

Voigt, the Bruins’ MVP, batted  a team-leading .406 and went 6-2 on the mound.

Muto had an outstanding season behind the plate and was a clutch hitter, while Fraser sparked the team from the No. 2 spot in the order, batting .378 with a team-high 25 runs scored.

The foursome helped Brunswick win the FAA championship, as it upended league rival Hopkins  School in the finals.

“We had a fantastic season and after such a great season it’s nice to see the kids get noticed for their efforts,” Brunswick coach Johnny Montanez said.

Junior third baseman Justin Cedeno, junior infielder Ryan Hardin and sophomore pitcher Bradley Wilpon were each Honorable Mention selections.

Brunswick will host its baseball camp June 25-July 27. The camp is open for kids ages 6-12. For more information, call coach Montanez at 203-625-5854.
