Greenwich graduate Claire Feeney has been named a captain of the Winthrop women’s lacrosse team for the team’s inaugural season.
Feeney, a freshman at Winthrop, was an All-American her senior high school season. She also earned All-Conference honors her sophomore, junior and senior seasons with All-State honors her junior and senior seasons.
“Claire is going to be one our fiercest competitors,” Winthrop lacrosse coach John Sung said in a press release from the school. “She is going to be someone that this team leans on to win ballgames as the season progresses.”
The Eagles open their inaugural season on February 8 when they travel to take on Howard University.
Winthrop will host its first ever lacrosse match on February 15 when it hosts Marquette University.
