Greenwich High School field hockey captains Lizzy Trotta and Sydney Cole each received First Team All-State honors at the Connecticut Coaches Association All-State Field Hockey Awards Banquet at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington on Tuesday night.
Cole, a senior forward, sparked the Cardinals throughout the season with her dynamic playmaking ability. Trotta, also a senior, helped anchor Greenwich’s strong defensive play throughout the season. Coached by Ally Orrico, Greenwich finished the season 15-4, advancing to the CIAC Class L semifinals and the FCIAC quarterfinals.
Trotta was also recognized as a Connecticut All-State Scholar Athlete Tuesday night. Cole and Trotta each competed in the Connecticut All-Star Senior Game two weeks ago as members of the West Team. Sarah Stinebaugh played in the Connecticut All-Star Junior Game for Greenwich. The West team won both games.
Trotta and Cole also recently earned First Team All-FCIAC honors. Senior goalie Freddie Bancroft, senior defender Nicole Graham and Stinebaugh were named to the All-FCIAC West Team, while freshman Paige Mautner was an Honorable Mention Selection.
