The Moms and Pops stores downtown are counting on having a lot of shoppers today. It is one of the greatest Westport traditions to rub elbows on Main Street while taking care of holiday business this last Saturday before Christmas.
The big chains will always be there-or not, but the locally owned stores are the ones that give the personal character to town and it has been harder and harder for them to compete with the rents going up and the big boys from out of town moving in.
I always think of the same ones like Sally’s Place Records–she is the best of the best–iconic personality from my childhood. Max’s Art Supplies as well and everything in between. Without them…….
Parking should prove to be madness as well but well worth it because the energy and holiday spirit is alive and well.
Remember to drop off boatloads of cash at the little boutiques today.
