Route 8 North closed in Seymour after tractor-trailer turns over

|

UPDATE, 12:20 p.m.: State police are encouraging drivers to seek alternate routes around Route 8 in Seymour because the highway is closed at exit 22. Earlier Wednesday morning a tractor-trailer struck a DOT truck and then rolled over. The truck spilled diesel fuel on the road and scattered debris in across both lanes northbound and into the left lane southbound.

State police said the northbound lanes will be closed for the next few hours.

Traffic is being diverted off of the highway and then back on.

9:45 a.m.: A tractor-trailer has overturned on Route 8 northbound in Seymour between exits 22 and 23.

Both lanes of the road are closed.

DEEP is responding to the scene because fuel is leaking from the saddle tank of the truck, according to emergency dispatches.

There was no immediate word on any injuries as a result of the accident.

Expect lane closures and delays in the area.
